Upon arrival at Clear Springs Ranch, each client’s condition is thoroughly evaluated by the treatment team. Every individual is different, and a customized treatment plan is conceived for each client at Clear Springs Ranch. It is critical to thoroughly diagnose each individual’s addiction in order to ensure effective treatment.
Alcohol and Drug Addiction
When you or a loved one cannot stop using drugs – either prescription medication or illegal substances such as marijuana, cocaine, and heroin– or when your drinking continues despite negative consequences, then it is time to seek help. No matter which class of drugs a person is addicted to, the devastation is often the same.
Changes in personality can be one of the first warning signs that a person is abusing drugs and alcohol. Isolation and loneliness become the norm for most substance dependent people. As the addiction grows, the ability to stop using becomes more difficult. Without professional help, healing is extremely difficult.
Behavioral Process Disorders and Addictions
Non-substance addictions, known as process or behavioral addictions, have similarities to substance use disorders. Examples include: pathological gambling, stealing, sex and eating.
Each of these can be successfully treated with professional therapeutic intervention techniques.
Co-occurring disorders refers to mental illness that presents concurrently with a substance use disorder. Correctly diagnosing and treating mental health and mood disorders that occur simultaneously with addiction have been shown to reduce the risk of subsequent drug and alcohol misuse.
Examples of co-occurring disorders include:
- Depressive disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Psychosis, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
- Borderline personality disorder
- Panic disorder and anxiety disorder
A drug addiction can at times induce psychiatric symptoms making accurate diagnosis difficult.
